3. Manual Assignments

Manual assignments give the assignor the most flexibility when assigning referees to a match.

The Manual Assign screen displays a list of games, sorted by date.

Referee Assistant has a number of different criteria that can be used for assigning the appropriate referee to each game. Some assignors may choose to use the full features of Referee Assistant, and others may choose to only use a minimal number of conflict types.

To chose the particular conflict types to be used for manual assigning:

  1. Click the Choose Conflict Criteria... button

  2. Check the Use box next to the conflict types that you want Referee Assistant to consider

  3. Un-check the Use box next to the conflict types that you want Referee Assistant to ignore.

To assign a referee to a game:

  1. Choose a game from the list. A game can be chosen by

    1. clicking the game in the list, or

    2. entering the game number in the Go To: box

  2. Click the name of a position from the list labeled Assigned Referees

  3. Click the name of a referee from the list labeled All Referees. Referee names are sorted by last name. If a referee does not have a conflict with the game, their name will be at the top of the list. If a referee has a conflict, their name will be a the bottom of the list, with the word CONFLICT next to it. The referee's name, along with their ability level, home phone number, and work phone number will be shown in the list.

  4. Click the Assign button to assign the referee.

To remove a referee from a game:

  1. Choose a game from the list.

  2. Click the name of a position from the list labeled Assigned Referees

  3. Click the name of a referee from the list labeled All Referees.

  4. Click the Remove button to remove the referee.

To determine why a particular referee has a conflict with a game:

  1. Choose a game from the list.

  2. Click the name of a position from the list labeled Assigned Referees

  3. Click the name of a referee from the list labeled All Referees.

  4. Click the Describe Conflict button

  5. Referee Assistant will display a message describing why a particular referee should not be assigned to the selected game and position.

To view a referee's assignments:

  1. Click the name of a referee from the list labeled All Referees.

  2. Click the Show Assignments button to assign the referee.

To show only games that require a referee to be assigned, click the Hide "Full" Games button. This will hide any games that have all of the positions filled.

To edit a game's attributes (date/time/field/system of control/etc.):

  1. Choose a game from the list

  2. Click the Edit Game button

  3. Change any game attributes, and click the Close button.

To select the first game occuring on or after today's date, click the Goto Today button.

To send an e-mail to the referees assigned to a particular game:

  1. Choose a game from the list

  2. Click the E-mail button

  3. The screen will show an e-mail dialog box, with the name(s) and e-mail address(es) of the recipients. If a referee does not have an e-mail address, their name will not be listed in the box.

  4. To change the recepients, click the To button. Multiple referees can be selected by holding down the CTRL key and clicking the names of the recipients

  5. Enter a subject for the e-mail

  6. To blind-carbon-copy the Assignor e-mail address (defined on the Options screen), check the BCC Assignor box.

  7. Type a message to the referees. The information regarding the game you chose will be automatically populated in the body of the message

  8. Click Send
